Purpose and aim shall be to establish, perpetuate, and promote the existence and knowledge of the Chamorro people.  Participating and projecting ethnic activities and cultural events for the Chamorro people.

With the help of other Chamorros we can come together as indigenous inhabitants of Guam sharing the responsibilities of promoting the Chamorro culture through art, cultural performances, language, customs and traditions.  We must honor the past and imagine the future in order to remind us to preserve our heritage and to enhance life for future generations.

It all started as a backyard barbeque in July 2003 at the residence of Rose Ayuyu Morales.  Rose and Bernie Cruz were hanging out one hot summer day when the subject came up to celebrate Liberation.  From there they got the ball rolling.  Rose and Bernie made phone calls to the Chamorros they knew and where anxious to say they were having a get together in celebration of “ Guam Liberation”.  Everyone was excited and fellow Chamorros, family and friends donated food, desserts and drinks.  Rose, with the help of her daughter and sister, made posters of all the villages on Guam and hung them throughout her backyard.   All that attended shared good food and good conversation.  Singing Karaoke and having door prizes added to the enjoyment of that memorable day and the beginning of celebrating Guam Liberation.

In July 2004 Guam Liberation was celebrated once again.  It was not quite the backyard barbeque from the previous year.  Knowing more people would attend and participate in organizing, all those involved agreed to celebrate this occasion at one of the local parks in Yuba City; Sam Brannen Park.  There were people in charge of food, setting up and barbequing.  In between the DJ entertainment, there were raffle drawings, island dancing and games for both kids and adults.  All raffle prizes were generously donated by local Chamorros and businesses.  Once again the Guam Liberation Celebration of 2004 was a success!  After feasting, laughter and drinks, the group started planning for next year’s Liberation.

The Chamorros came together in mid August 2004 with the intention to keep this Liberation Celebration going within the community and to continue sharing their culture with family and friends.   With verbal voting the Yuba Sutter Chamorro Club was formally named and Officers were elected by secret ballots, naming Steve Santos - President, John Cruz - Vice President, Charlotte Roberto - Treasurer, Sissy Scharff -  Secretary, and Herman Roberto -  Sgt. at Arms.  These individuals and active Members would begin structuring the organization of the Yuba Sutter Chamorro Club, otherwise known as the YSCC.
